Cylindrical roller bearings are radial rolling bearings with cylindrical rollers. The rollers and raceways are in line contact, which gives a high radial load capacity and suits heavy loads and shock loads.
Friction is low, so they suit high-speed rotation, with a limiting speed close to that of deep groove ball bearings. Depending on whether the rings have ribs, they come as single-row types NU, NJ, NUP, N and NF, and double-row types NNU and NN. The inner or outer ring is separable, which makes mounting and dismounting easy.
