The deep groove ball bearing is the most widely used single-row radial ball bearing. It has low friction and runs at high speed. It carries radial loads, or combined radial and axial loads, and can also take purely axial loads.
There are two designs. The open design has no seal. The sealed design is either dust-sealed or oil-sealed: the dust seal is a pressed steel shield that keeps dust out of the raceway, and the oil seal is a contact seal that keeps the grease inside the bearing.
